TRASHION FASHION 2026

The FLRA Creative Studio and Azul Sayu Trashion Fashion Show is an educational event and fundraiser for the not-for-profit recycling program here in Sayulita. Trashion Fashion works with local and international designers to create fashion out of trash and found items. Each year, this event provides educational information about how to reduce, reuse and recycle items to keep Sayulita clean and beautiful.

El Desfile de Moda Trashion Fashion de FLRA Creative Studio y Azul Sayu es un evento educativo y de recaudación de fondos que apoya el programa de reciclaje sin fines de lucro en Sayulita. Trashion Fashion colabora con diseñadores locales e internacionales para crear moda a partir de basura y materiales encontrados. Cada año, el evento promueve la concientización y brinda información educativa sobre cómo reducir, reutilizar y reciclar residuos para mantener Sayulita limpia y hermosa.

Now in its 5th year, local nonprofit environmental program Azul Sayu continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of Sayulita. The program provides free environmental education and maintains over 100 public recycling bins throughout Sayulita and San Ignacio.

Recyclables (PET plastic, glass, metal, and cardboard) can be dropped off Saturdays from 9–11 a.m. at Carretera Punta de Mita and Calle Tortuga, or 24/7 at the containers in front of Queens on Revolución Norte. Monthly community beach cleanups are held in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund.

Each year, Sayulita recycles about 35 tons of glass and one ton of plastic per month, all processed in Mexico. Recycling services are not funded by the government and are offered free to the community. Donations are essential to cover more than half of the program’s annual budget.

Ahora en su quinto año, el programa ambiental sin fines de lucro Azul Sayu continúa creciendo para atender las necesidades de Sayulita. Ofrece educación ambiental gratuita y mantiene más de 100 contenedores públicos de reciclaje en Sayulita y San Ignacio.

Los reciclables (plástico PET, vidrio, metal y cartón) pueden entregarse los sábados de 9:00 a 11:00 a.m. en Carretera Punta de Mita y Calle Tortuga, o las 24/7 frente a Queens en Revolución Norte. Cada mes se realizan limpiezas comunitarias de playas.

Sayulita recicla aproximadamente 35 toneladas de vidrio al año y una tonelada de plástico al mes, todo procesado en México. El programa no recibe financiamiento gubernamental, ofrece servicios gratuitos y depende de donaciones para su operación.
